Highmark Healthy High 5 School Challenge Program awards $526,000 in grants to 65 Pennsylvania schools
PITTSBURGH (July 22, 2008)
The Highmark Foundation, through the Highmark Healthy High 5 School Challenge, recently awarded nearly $526,000 in grants to 65 elementary, middle and high schools across Pennsylvania during the second quarter of 2008. The grants will support programs that address bullying prevention and self-esteem, improve nutrition education, enhance nutrition choices and provide opportunities for physical activity.

Highmark Healthy High 5 School Challenge program awards $605,000 in grants to 75 Pennsylvania schools
PITTSBURGH (April 10, 2008)
The Highmark Foundation awarded $605,000 in grants to 75 schools, grades K-12 across Pennsylvania. The grants will support programs that address bullying prevention and self-esteem, improve nutrition education, enhance nutrition choices and provide opportunities for physical activity. Due to the overwhelming response received from schools, The Highmark Foundation has also approved an additional $1.5 million to be awarded through the Highmark Healthy High 5 School Challenge increasing the resources to award a total of $2.5 million this year.

The Highmark Foundation announces $1 million school challenge program
PITTSBURGH (Nov. 16, 2007)
The Highmark Foundation announced today that $1 million in grants will be awarded on a rolling basis in 2008 through the Highmark Healthy High 5 School Challenge grant program to public, private, parochial and charter schools in the Foundation’s 49-county service area.

The Highmark Foundation awards $580,000 in Highmark Healthy High 5 grants to four nonprofit organizations
PITTSBURGH (Oct. 10, 2007)
The Highmark Foundation recently awarded more than $580,000 in grants to four nonprofit organizations through its Highmark Healthy High 5 initiative. The grants will be used for nutrition and physical activity programs in central and western Pennsylvania, and for a grieving program in Centre, Huntingdon and Mifflin counties.

Bullying Prevention Institute designed to empower change in schools
CAMP HILL (Oct. 1, 2007)
On Oct. 4 and 5, Highmark Healthy High 5, an initiative of the Highmark Foundation, will present the Bullying Prevention Institute at the Hershey Lodge in Hershey, Pa. This event is the only one of its kind in Pennsylvania.

Highmark Healthy High 5 provides $150,000 grant to support transition for Duquesne High School students

Researchers say we are at risk of raising the first generation of American children who will live sicker and die younger than the generations before them. A new one-hour program called "PA Healthy Kids: Back to Basics," produced by Emmy-Award-winning WQED-TV, focuses on five critical children’s health issues – nutrition, physical activity, self-esteem, grieving and bullying—and premieres on WQED in Pittsburgh on Sunday, May 17 at 8 p.m. The program is sponsored by the Highmark Foundation.
