Pennsylvania schools report decrease in bullying behaviors
PITTSBURGH (November 17, 2009)
The Highmark Foundation unveiled the final results of an unprecedented analysis of Pennsylvania's school-based bullying prevention programs. According to "Bullying Prevention: A Statewide Collaborative That Works," a report released by the Highmark Foundation, incidences of bullying in Pennsylvania schools have decreased.

Preliminary findings of a statewide study on bullying prevention programs demonstrate significant decreases in reports of students being bullied and increased perceptions among students about the importance of positive bystander behavior, an important factor in reducing bullying. The findings were announced today by the Highmark Foundation, through its Highmark Healthy High 5 initiative, and its partners at the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Windber Research Institute and the Center for Safe Schools.

Highmark Healthy High 5, a $100 million children’s health promotion initiative of the Highmark Foundation, has revamped its Web site, www.highmarkhealthyhigh5.org, to better engage parents, educators and nonprofit organization leaders in learning about today’s most pressing children’s health issues and promoting children’s health.
