Highmark Healthy High 5 School Challenge grant program is expanded for 2008
The Highmark Healthy High 5 School Challenge grant program is designed to support schools in the effort to introduce programs that will create healthier, more successful students.
Through the School Challenge grant program, we invite schools to submit proposals for innovative programming to improve nutrition education, nutrition services, increase opportunities for physical activity or education, self-esteem, or bullying prevention.
To see whether your school is eligible to apply, please complete our eligibility screening.
Due to the overwhelming response from schools, the Highmark Foundation will increase the grant dollars it will award in 2008 from $1 million to $2.5 million through the Highmark Healthy High 5 School Challenge grant program. School Challenge grants are awarded throughout the year to elementary, middle and high schools within its service region in amounts up to $10,000 per school building. Schools that received grants in 2007 are eligible to apply for a 2008 for School Challenge grant. Grants will be awarded for programs that address one or more of the following topics:
- Nutrition education or services
- Opportunities for physical education or activity
- Self-esteem
- Bullying prevention
